Here in the Lancashire countryside, we have a small herd of rare breed sows ranging from Gloucestershire Old Spots to British Lops. Our goal is to conserve our native breeds and provide quality reared meat for your dinner table. This is achieved by working with the natural characteristics and hardiness of the pigs allowing them to free range in our woodlands and pastures. Doing this means we provide succulent, richly flavoured pork for our customers. Mr Pork Chop’s aim is to educate and develop innovative ways that challenge traditional farming practices. Therefore benefiting our customers as well as the local environment. Passion fuels our business and we hope to grow our herd, establishing roots for future generations to enjoy.

We are all about the well-being and care of our animals on our farm. After all, you are what you eat.
Knowing that you are eating quality produce that has been given its best life.
Our Pork is for those who like to know the origins of their meat. We pride ourselves on having high standards of welfare on our farm allowing for top quality produce. The health of our livestock is our priority.
We are a small family-run farm in the northwest of Lancashire, that farms a variety of livestock, pigs, cattle and sheep. We strive to achieve what’s best for all our animals by encouraging all natural behaviours, and giving them what they need to ensure they have the best quality of life.
In 2020 we decided to sell our home grown produce. We want to share our knowledge and skills which we have gained over generations of farming by telling you the story of the cycle from our field to your fork.
All our pigs are free-range. We use plots of woodland and pastures that we have all around the farm to move them to fresh grazing once they have dug the area up. The land then is left to rest for a few months to help regenerate the land. Having the pigs naturally fertilise the land and us giving the land the time to recover is, we feel the best way to achieve sustainable farming. We carry on this process until the pigs are ready to butcher. This process is much slower than the typical commercial supermarket pig. Instead of weeks they take months to mature. The method that we use is so that the pigs are growing at their natural rate. Even though they develop an extra layer of fat to keep them warm over the cold nights this adds a more in-depth flavour to their meat. A happy pig makes a happy farmer and a happy farmer wants to share the joy with you.
